Quoted as being one of the fastest growing professional sports in the country, Mixed Martial Arts fights have gained momentum with the airing of the hit show "The Ultimate Fighter" and by the cable showings and pay-per-views of the UFC. Our sister school Beaufort Martial Arts Academy has been instructing students in mixed martial arts since 1997 and we continue that legacy in Savannah. We will be hosting local fights in the Savannah area, as well as exhibition matches and other shows in the near future. If you would like to train to be in one of those events, we recommend you to join our competition team. Only the top students will be permitted to compete at the top levels, so we would like students with a strong drive to win as well as the determination and focus to dedicate themselves to the training required to perform well against other great fighters. If you think you have what it takes click the link at the bottom of the page to contact Sensei Abe Stem about joining the SMAA competition team.
Boxing and Kickboxing have been held in the United States and the world for many years now, and they are in no way extinct competitions. If you have previous experience or would like to gain experience in order to train for competitions, please contact Sensei Abe soon.
High school and college wrestlers have often wondered what professional sport there was for them after the last semester of their schooling. Well there is a new sport emerging which allows former or current wrestlers to stay sharp and compete at an amateur and professional level without any striking such as that in MMA fighting. This sport is the sport of Submission Grappling which pairs men and women against each other in timed matches where the better grappler, not striker, wins. Wrestling and Judo/JiuJitsu takedowns are allowed as well as ground control and submissions while on the ground or standing. This is a great sport for those that want to compete without the worries of getting bloody or broken. Our school takes grappling tournaments very seriously however, and even though all students are allowed and encouraged to attend, only the most elite in their weight class may compete in the professional level.
If you think that you have the drive, determination, and focus to pull you to the top of the competitive martial arts world, and would like to inquire about joining our team, contact Abe as soon as possible.
